instructions for use
How to start your little bird on Neocare
For best results, always start with a very runny mixture. Add 2 small tablespoons (the tablespoon included in the package) of formula to a jar or cup, then add one large tablespoon and one small tablespoon of boiling water. Mix well with a fork for 30 seconds or until smooth (like sandy milk). Check temperature and power. The above mixture should then be gradually thickened over a period of 48 hours, at which time the usual mixing instructions below should be used until the bird is weaned.
Regular Formula Mix
Add a large spoonful of formula to a jar or cup, then add a large spoonful of boiling water. Mix well with a fork for 30 seconds until a thick, consistent paste forms. Add 3 more tablespoons of cold water and blend for 2 more minutes or until smooth. Check temperature and power.
Recommended food temperature
The temperature of the food given to babies (regardless of their age) should be between 36 and 38 ºC. Temperatures above 43ºC will begin to burn the crop, lower than 34ºC will cause digestion problems. It is important that you DO NOT use a microwave to heat the formula.
Frequency and amount of feeding
The age and species of birds being raised affect the amount and frequency of feeding. Be sure to thoroughly research your individual birds’ requirements before you begin. As a general rule, the last feeding of the day should be done late at night, between 10 and 11 pm, and the next feeding early the next morning, between approximately 5 and 6 am. It is important to keep in mind that during the first feeding of the day the crop must be completely empty. The crop should be allowed to empty completely once every 24 hours.

Warning
Neocare should not be used with any other supplements unless directed by a veterinarian. Neocare is a balanced veterinary feed, mixing other feeds or supplements will dilute the nutrition and unbalance the diet of young birds. If hand-feeding from hatching, an electrolyte formula should be fed for the first 24 hours or until the bird hatches for the first time. Neocare is then administered in a liquid consistency and thickens over a period of days.
