NEKTON-R-BETA contains a high percentage of the carotenoid
beta carotene, together with 13 different vitamins, 6 trace
elements, 18 important amino acids and water-soluble calcium.
It has been developed especially for the breeder of colored
canaries. As opposed to our well-known canthaxanthin
preparation NEKTON-R, NEKTON-R-BETA does not bring out
the red coloring quite so strongly. It influences only the red parts
of a bird’s plumage and thus has no effect on a yellow canary.
This, of course, is of great importance to the breeder wishing
to exhibit or enter his birds in competitions.
The carotenoid contained in NEKTON-R-BETA is also to be
found in carrots, for example, which are well-known to breeders
as a means of coloring or intensifying the color of the plumage.
By adding NEKTON-R-BETA to the feed or drinking water the
carotene is absorbed direct and deposited in the pigmentary
colors. This process can only take place during the growth of
the feathers, which means NEKTON-R-BETA should be given
before a bird’s first set of full feathers or during the molt.
Obviously a bird also needs a regular supply of vitamins to
encourage the correct functioning of the metabolism at such
times. Here again NEKTON-R-BETA with its various vitamins,
amino acids and trace elements helps the bird through such
stress situations and achieves excellent feather growth, healthy
and strong birds through a number of generations and all with
brilliant, natural red coloring.
NEKTON-R-BETA can be added to either the drinking water or
feed. In the case of drinking water it should be lukewarm (approx.
25°C – 30°C) in order to dissolve the carotene completely. All
vitamins, trace elements, amino acids and calcium are completely
soluble in cold water, and the water should not be warmer than
40°C as certain vitamins lose their effectiveness at higher
temperatures.
DOSAGE
This depends on the desired color intensity. In general 1 g
NEKTON-R-BETA to approx. ½ pint water can be taken as a
guide. As a service to our customers a measuring spoon holding
1 g is enclosed. Using this spoon, this means 2 spoonfuls to
approx. 1 pint water. If you have only one or two birds, pierce
small hole in the seal and shake a little into drinking water or
over soft feed. Use fresh food or fresh water only every time.
General Guide: ¼ teaspoon to half a pint of water
½ teaspoon (flat) to 1 pint water
1 tablespoon to 1 gallon water

2 cups = 1 pint.
TREATMENT
Commence treatment at beginning of molt. Start adding NEKTONR-BETA when the bird begins to lose its feathers and stop when
it has a new set. You will find the bird in a much better condition
than usual after this regular supply of vitamins, trace elements,
calcium and amino acids.
IMPORTANT
Store in a cool, dark, dry place. In an unopened container and
correctly stored the vitamins in NEKTON-R-BETA remain effective
until date of expiration, see extra label.
Please note
Because of this supplement’s higher content of vitamin D and
trace elements than in a complete feed, it may only be added
to 10% of a bird’s daily ration.
